Keeping abreast of hotel and tourism developments in the South East Region, Nigel Teasdale, Arc's Partner in Bangkok was at this key networking event attended by over 600 guests.
Nigel Teasdale, Arc's Partner in Bangkok attended this annual event at the Intercontinental Hotel, Bangkok on 21 January.
The conference, with over 600 delegates, reviews prior year performance and discusses prospects for 2019.
2018 hotel RevPAR performance in provincial Thailand was generally flat or negative (in Koh Samui/Phangan which were badly affected by floods) Bangkok achieved close to 5% growth in a year in which demand growth outstripped supply growth. With a high number of new hotel openings in the capital during 2019, repeating this performance will be a challenge.
Uncertainty over national elections, highly publicised pollution in Bangkok and the relative strength of the Baht may also make it a challenging year for tourism throughout the country.
