Thanks to Jonathan Worsely and all those behind the first Virtual Hospitality Conference that took place post the Covid-19 crisis on 7th April. This was a widely attended event with over 3,000 participants globally and included presentations and networking sessions showing the breadth and international nature of our industry.
The economic barometer that hospitality and tourism provides to governments and also serves as an indicator of social behaviour was highlighted in various presentations that discussed the implications for the industry and served to try and estimate the nature of the potential recovery.
Speakers included: Roger Bootle, Capital Economics;Najib Balala, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Tourism & Wildlife, Kenya; Puneet Chhatwal, CEO & M.D., Indian Hotels Company Limited;Robin Rossmann, managing director, STR, Desmond Taljaard, managing director-hotels, L&R, Paul Slattery Director, Otus & Co Ltd, Wolfgang Neumann, former Radisson CEO andA nita Mendiratta, Special Advisor to the secretary-general, UNWTO.
The New Abnormal-Our View. The Hospitality and travel industry is being hit harder than ever before but it also shows up its importance as a barometer for some forms of economic activity. From debates on the shape of the recovery (U,V or W curves?!) through to the potential financial, operational and travel effects of the current crisis the hashtag#hospitalitytommorrow virtual conference event (the first of its kind) that took place today was a total success from our perspective. It was useful to share views and network with individuals in our industry across the globe.

If we can help, collaborate or refer in identifying opportunities and with 'live' projects in Europe or through our associates in UAE, Viability Management Consultants as the world starts to get back to whatever 'normal' may become, we will be happy to do so.
