Hospitality Market Appraisals and Feasibility

Douglas has wide ranging consultancy and operational experience in the hospitality sector with a focus on pubs and hotels at an individual site and portfolio level.  He is a hotel school graduate who has worked for international hotel groups Grand Metropolitan, Inter-Continental, Gleneagles and Forte, followed by consultancy and transactional experience with Horwath & Horwath and Nomura International Plc. 

Douglas’s key skills include support to owners in active asset management of hotels (working alongside the appointed management and professional team) and research, site appraisals and planning support aimed at adding value to specific projects including acquisitions. His broad consultancy experience covers venues seeking to develop hotels such as stadiums, motorway service areas and pubs and includes a hotel privatisation, portfolio reviews and the establishment of a start-up pub company. 

He is a fluent Portuguese speaker, active cyclist and enjoys  music, the arts and Tai Chi.

James Munro

Hotels & Resorts Operational Management

James is a highly experienced and respected hotelier who worked with ITT Sheraton and Starwood Hotels & Resorts as Area Manager with multi property strategic responsibilities for 14 years and General Manager for 24 years.  He was involved in Starwood’s development in the UAE where he spent 12 years in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi during the exciting evolution of these world-renowned destinations.

James key skills include Hotel & Resort Operational Expertise, Asset Management, Owner Relations, Project Management & Pre Opening Support, Feasibility/ Viability and Partnership Marketing.

He has also worked in Geneva, London, Lisbon, Istanbul, Copenhagen, Sofia and the Algarve, Portugal as Area & GM of the stunning  luxury Pine Cliffs Resort for over 8 years and was fully involved with the major new build/ renovation programme and repositioning of this famous integrated resort.

James is now London based and a  keen golfer and avid walker.

Tourism Economist

Jim is a graduate of London University and a tourism economist with over 40 years’ experience of working in the tourism and hospitality sectors. He has worked in marketing for a national UK hotel group, in development with the English Tourist Board, in hotel and tourism consultancy with two international accountancy firms and developed a tourism and hospitality team within a major UK international engineering group before setting up his own consultancy firm.

Jim’s skills are in tourism destination development and planning, statistical analysis, policy formulation, market, economic and financial analyses, used on wide-ranging assignments with private sector investors, governments, international development banks and donor organisations, including the Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Union, UNWTO and the World Bank in over 80 countries.

Jim is an invited broadcaster on tourism issues who enjoys playing golf and collecting ethnographic art.

Nigel Teasdale

Hospitality Asset Management, (Middle East, S.E. Asia)

Nigel is an experienced hotel asset manager having worked with owners, and as a third party appointee, in both Europe and the Middle East. Nigel is based in SE Asia and his core Skills include Asset Management, Appraisals, Operator Search, Purchase and Disposals. He provides the Arc Partnership with international reach,  and a point of contact for those seeking advice or who may wish to source European expertise with the benefit of a local presence.

His previous sales, appraisals and operational roles were with the English Tourist Board, Rank Hotels, Gleneagles Hotel followed by consultancy and asset management with Panell Kerr Forster , Vision Hospitality Management and as a  Senior Asset Manager, TDIC (Tourism Development & Investment Company), Abu Dhabi.

Nigel speaks French and is a qualified rugby union & hockey coach, he also enjoys a range of sports and is an avid traveller and reader.

A qualified Chartered Accountant with wide ranging business skills borne out of being an Owner/Director of a travel business for 25 years. Having witnessed the growth of the business from £1m to £70m revenue, he has vast financial and commercial experience of planning for growth and managing change in a rapidly expanding business environment.

Steve’s Core Skills include Strategy, Financial Planning & Reporting, Business Plans for an Onward Sale and he is an active investor in early stage Venture Capital backed businesses. Steve is a Business Studies Graduate whose career spans PKF, JAC Travel Ltd (Owner/Director/CFO), Self Employed Consultant, Power Solutions (UK) Ltd  (Non Executive Director), Aquality Trading & Consulting (Finance Director) and Octopus Investments ( Venture Partner).

Having represented England Universities in amateur football, he now enjoys watching live sport and is still a keen runner and cyclist. His other main passion is travel.

Geoff is a Chartered Surveyor and real estate advisor specialising in property investment and asset management for real estate owners and investors, as well as corporate occupiers, across the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

Currently based in Doha, advising on the property interests of Al Faisal Holding, one of the largest business conglomerates in Qatar, he has previously provided both operational and strategic advice to a diverse range of clients including the owners of Discovery Park, a 450 acre science park in Sandwich, Kent, and to Citibank as Consultant to their Office of the Chief Appraiser.

Having started his career with Midland Bank (now HSBC), he spent over 10 years at Sun Alliance Property Investment managing a number of property investment portfolios. Geoffrey moved to Chesterton International, ultimately being promoted to Director and Head of International Client Services before joining Arc Consulting Partners as a Founding Partner, with responsibility for real estate investment and asset management.
